Looking for fun, educational activities for your children this summer?
Sign up for a summer camp at OCA! Students can improve their reading, handwriting and math skills over the summer! They can also enjoy art, book clubs and experiencing other cultures!
- Summer camp students do not need to be currently enrolled at OCA.
- Registration closes on May 28th, 2021.
- Each camp needs a minimum of 5 students.
- To keep class sizes small and personalized, the maximum number of students are listed for each class below.
Getting Ready for Kindergarten: Reading
- Teacher: Shanna Erwin
- Age: Those going into Kindergarten
- Date: 8:30-9:30, June 14-25
- Cost: $200
- Description: This class is designed to help your child get ready for Kindergarten. The focus will be on letters, handwriting and sequencing.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten: Math and Reading

- Description: This class is designed to help your child get ready for Kindergarten. The focus will be on Numbers, handwriting and sequencing.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten: Math and Handwriting

- Age: Those going into Kindergarten
- Date: 1:00-2:45, June 14-25
- Cost: $300 (this class is a higher price than the other camps because it is a longer time-frame)
- Description: This class is designed to help your child get ready for Kindergarten. The focus will be on letters, numbers and handwriting.

Number Sense
- Teacher: Megan Wenger
- Age: Those going into 1st and 2nd
- Date: 8:30-9:30, June 7-18
- Cost: $200
- Description: Number sense is essential for young learners. It promotes confidence in math and flexibility in thinking and problem solving. Students will create a stronger relationship with numbers and be able to talk about math as a language. By building an understanding of numbers students can love math and better see it in the world around them.

Art I

- Description: In this class we are going to explore the basic elements of art with various art projects and crafts. Elements we will explore are color theory and principle of design. During camp we will apply what we have learned in our projects.

Phonics: Building Blocks for Reading

- Description: This camp is designed to help those who struggle in reading. We will focus on phonics and how words fit together to make us better readers.

Jan Brett: A Book Club and Author Study
- Teacher: Barb Saiz
- Age: Those going into 1st-3rd
- Date: 9:30-11:30, June 14-18
- Cost: $200
- Description: Jan Brett is an author and illustrator for children. Her books are full of fantastic art, hidden hedgehogs and captivating stories. Along with reading her books, students will work on comprehension skills by re-telling, acting out stories, art projects and games.

Math Fun and Games

- Description: A week filled with math fun and games. Each day will focus on a math concept followed up with a game or art project/activity. We will be going over addition, subtraction and multiplication as well as shapes, sequences and fractions.

Varsity Math

- Description: Multiplication Facts will be the focus of this camp. Students will practice their facts through music, games, storytelling and repetition.

Summer Science Camp

- Date: 10:00-12:00, June 7-11
- Cost: $200
- Description: Students will explore a variety of concepts from life science and chemisty through hands on activities such as baking, experiments and dissections. Activities will help advance knowledge of current 5th-7th grade topics and assist in learning how to communicate ideas to others.

- Description: This art class will have a dual focus on art from around the world and print making. Students will bring home wearable and gift worthy projects.

Book Club: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
- Teacher: Barb Saiz
- Age: Those going into 4th-6th
- Date: 10:00-12:00, June 21-25
- Cost: $200
- Description: Students will read the book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in the style of Reader’s Theater. We will work on fluency and expression as we read. Students will learn some history of WWII and discuss the allegory of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Fun foods, games and art will be included in our camp.

Around the World in Five Days

- Description: Let’s travel the world! Students will experience 5 different countries. Games, food, art, language and basic geography will be included in our study. We will visit Egypt, Japan, Mexico , England, and Italy.
